As the wellness economy continues to grow at an astounding pace, we’re seeing an ever more buoyant development pipeline of new spa openings.

The Global Wellness Economy Monitor 2025 forecasts the wellness economy is now worth $6.8 trillion (£5.07 trillion), set to hit a record $9.8 trillion in 2029. This represents 6.12 per cent of global GDP.

Spending on wellness is now 35 per cent higher than in 2019 and, to meet that growing demand we are seeing considerable investment in ever more impressive facilities.

From the much-anticipated Six Senses London and Zannier Île de Bendor in France to the vast AMAALA project, this year promises numerous new properties in the UK, across Europe and beyond.

Best London spa openings for 2026


1. Six Senses, London

The long-awaited Six Senses Spa will open in London on March 1.

Located in the former Whiteleys department store on Westbourne Grove, the spa space will be reminiscent of an old-fashioned underground station. It will include a Six Senses Alchemy Bar as well as London’s first magnesium pool within a hotel.

There will also be a flotation pod and cryotherapy chamber, along with movement studios, all under the management of director of wellness Taffryn Kinsey Ellis.

Six Senses Place is set to be a new kind of social and wellness club, featuring a central bar and lounge, co-working spaces plus wellness and treatment rooms.

2. The Newman, London

Opening on February 1 in Fitzrovia, the Newman will be the first hotel under hospitality management company, Kinsfolk & Co.

Designed by Lind + Almond, Wellness at the Newman will offer a Nordic-themed concept, with a medical-grade halotherapy room, a Finnish sauna and steam room, an ice lounge and a hydrotherapy plunge pool, all supplied by Guncast & KLAFS.

Partner brands include Scandinavian clean beauty brand Nuori – marking its first London hotel presence – Moss of the Isles and Kloris.

3. The St Regis, London

Originally due to launch in 2024, it is now expected that Marriott International’s new St Regis, London will open in mid-2026.

Located on the former site of the Westbury Mayfair, the hotel is undergoing a multi-million pound redevelopment.

Wellness will be central to the property, with two spa treatment suites and facilities including plunge pools and saunas.

4. Waldorf Astoria London Admiralty Arch

Billed for a 2026 opening, the hotel is in one of London’s most iconic landmarks, at the end of the Mall, opposite Buckingham Palace.

As well as world-class wellness offerings the hotel will feature 100 elegantly designed rooms and suites and residences.

The spa will offer a curated selection of treatments and wellness programmes as well as fitness facilities.

5. Cambridge House, London

 

Auberge Resorts Collection will make its UK debut when Cambridge House opens in late 2026, complete with a destination Auberge Spa.

 

The spa will showcase the brand’s new wellness philosophy, the Joy of Wellbeing, across three-floors. Facilities will include a swimming pool, bath house, treatment rooms, gym and studios. The Joy of Wellbeing will be brought to life through a master-in-residence programme.

 

There will also be immersive sensory rooms that use sight, sound and scent to create presence and joy. Acclaimed designer Jean-Louis Deniot has been appointed to oversee the transformation of the hotel, while Laura Gonzalez is designing the spa.

6. The Francis, Bath

Set to unveil its new spa in February 2026, the Francis’s intimate, restorative wellbeing space will be rooted in Bath’s ancient healing heritage.

The thermal experiences are anchored by a KLAFS ESpuro Foam Steam Bath and treatments will be in partnership with Gaia and QMS.

7. Fairmont Chesire the Mere, Cheshire

UAE-based property developer, Select Group, has partnered with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts to redevelop the 157-acre Mere Resort in Cheshire.

The estate, with origins tracing back to the Domesday Book in 1086, is scheduled for re-opening in late 2026.

The resort is currently undergoing an extensive restoration and redesign, and will include extensive wellness facilities.

8. Sharrow Bay Hotel, Lake District

The iconic Sharrow Bay Hotel is being brough back to life by a complete refurbishment, and is set to be unveiled by Ciel Hotels in 2026.

Expanded facilities will include a new two-storey, purpose-built spa and wellness centre.

9. The Pig on the Farm, Stratford-upon-Avon

A converted 16th-century listed stone-built farmhouse, the Pig on the Farm is set in 53 acres of land and will offer 35 ensuite bedrooms and suites when it opens this year.

Three shepherd’s hut treatment huts will offer VOYA seaweed treatments.

10. Wildes Chester, Chester

The second site from the Wildes Hotel Group was originally scheduled to open in summer 2022. It’s now due to launch in spring with a rooftop pool and a spa as well as multiple treatment rooms.

 

11. Ty Gwyn Hotel, Abersoch, Wales

Operated by Bespoke Hotels, the waterfront Ty Gwyn Hotel is set to open with a spa and swimming pool, treatment rooms and a thermal suite set over three floors.

12. The Waterside, West Kilbride, Scotland

Si! Spa, a new £3 million development at family-run Ayrshire hotel, the Waterside, will include six treatment rooms, a four-person rasul experience and a thermal area.

The spa will overlook the beach and will have a strong focus on the outdoors with a large hydro pool, outdoor shower, cold bucket and a sheltered firepit area.

13. Matfen Hall, Northumberland

The Northumberland hotel has plans to create a new spa, which will take total investment in facilities to more than £40m.

Matfen Hall’s new spa will include an 18m indoor pool by Barr + Wray, a Himalayan salt steam room, Roman sauna and immersive thermal shower experience by Dalesauna.

There will be a cryotherapy chamber, relaxation lounge with personalised VR experience and outdoor vitality pool as well as five treatment rooms using Germaine de Capuccini products.

The spa is currently scheduled to open in July.

14. Long Lane, Midhurst, West Sussex

Long Lane, a wellness-first private members club and hotel, will open its doors in spring 2026.

It will challenge burnout, toxic habits and alcohol-fuelled socialising while championing longevity and mindful habits.

The Coach House will offer clinical and personalised treatments such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy, IV drips and cryotherapy.

There will be contrast therapies as well as a natural swimming pool, cold plunges and forest treatment pods.

15. Corinthia Rome, Italy

Taking reservations from February 2026, Corinthia Rome is set within the former headquarters of the Bank of Italy.

The spa will be located in the former bank’s vault. It will feature three treatment rooms, two bathing pools and tailored therapies in collaboration with 111Skin and Seed to Skin.

16. Six Senses Milan, Italy

Six Senses’ second urban Italian opening, located in the artsy Brera quarter, Six Senses Milan is a heritage property that will offer a state-of-the-art spa as well as a sky pool.

Opening in winter 2026, facilities will include an indoor pool, two saunas, a steam room and cold plunge pool, and a rooftop pool.

17. Ayã Resort, Cyprus

Opening fully in April 2026, Ayã Resort will have a full-service spa. At the centre of the resort, the 3,000sqm Ayã Pool will be a social hub, with curated poolside programming.

One full floor will be dedicated to the gym and a second to the spa, featuring a steam room and treatment rooms.

18. The First Hotel Cortina by Pavilions, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy

Due to open summer 26 in the Dolomites National Park, the spa at The First Cortina by The Pavilions has partnered with Bali-based wellness brand Revivo.

The spa area will span 1,000sqm across two levels, with multiple treatment rooms, a hammam and Turkish bath, plus panoramic and Finnish saunas. There will be a connected indoor-outdoor pool.

19. Na Praia, Comporta, Portugal

Opening in Spring 2026, this independent hotel will include a spacious spa, ‘seemingly carved from the dunes themselves’.

There will be core movement and physical wellness studios, as well as private treatment rooms and healing water therapies.

20. Zannier Île de Bendor, France

Scheduled to receive guests from May 1, 2026, Zannier Île de Bendor is on the private French island of Île de Bendor.

The Provençal-style village will reopen with a 1,200sqm holistic wellness spa.

As well as eight treatment rooms, the spa will have a hammam, cold bath, balneotherapy, mud bath and Iyashi Dome.

21. Fürstenhof Hotel, Bad Griesbach, Bavaria

Taken over by Ensana in October 2025, the Bavarian property is undergoing extensive renovations, which will see the modernisation of the wellness and treatment areas.

Fürstenhof is due to reopen in August 2026. The hotel is Ensana’s first in Germany and will offer the brand’s signature health programmes. The spa offering will heavily rely on the natural resources on site, including thermal water and parafango body wraps.

The Ensana brand has plans to double its number of international properties by 2030.

 22. Luura Cliff, Paros, Greece

The inaugural hotel for new family-owned hospitality brand, Luura, Luura Cliff is scheduled to open in May 2026.

With design by Elastic Architects and interiors by Lambs and Lions studio, the adults-only site will have an extensive wellness area, reflective of the Mediterranean way of living.

23. Airelles Palladio, Venezia, Italy

The French hotel collection’s first property in Italy will open on April 1 on Giudecca island.

Airelles Palladio, Venezia will offerthe city’s largest spa and wellness centre, spanning 1,700sqm with three pools.

24. Hotel Cipriani, Venice, Italy

Reopening as a renewed wellness destination in Spring 2026, as part of a multi-phase renovation, Hotel Cipriani will have the first Dior Spa in Venice.

25. Explora Journeys Explora III spa

 

Setting sail for her inaugural journey in summer 2026, the Explora III cruise ship will offer ocean-inspired wellness experiences.

 

Ocean Wellness and Fitness, the brand’s bespoke ocean-inspired wellbeing concept, has been has been reimagined to offer a unified space dedicated to wellbeing. The enhanced area includes a spa, and a fitness centre and studio created in partnership with Technogym.

26. Hotel Lürzerhof, Austria

The Alpine wellness resort in Untertauern is opening a new adults-only spa sanctuary across two floors in July 2026.

The Spa at Hotel Lürzerhof will have a dramatic cantilevered infinity pool with mountain views. At the centre of the wellness floor there will be a striking glass atrium.

There will be a curated succession of heat experiences including a Finnish panorama sauna, alongside an infrared salt dome and aroma steam bath.

27. Villa San Michele, Florence, Italy

A Belmond Hotel, Villa San Michele has undergone an 18-month renovation.

A 15th-century former monastery’s chapel, the new hotel will open with the Villa San Michele Spa by Guerlain, with treatments inspired by the monks who once called the hotel home. The hotel will reopen its doors on April 28, 2026.

28. Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca

Debuting in spring 2026 in Calvia, Wellness at Mandarin Oriental, Punta Negra will combine Mallorca’s heritage with Oriental wellbeing philosophies.

There will be nine treatment cabins plus communal heat and water experiences including a hydromassage pool, steam room, cold plunge and sensory showers.

29. Shanti-Som Wellbeing Retreat, Olhao, Portugal

Shanti-Som is expanding it’s Wellbeing Retreat concept to Portugal this summer.

Designed to look like a Balinese spa, Shanti-Som Algarve is on a ten-acre estate in Moncarapacho. It will have a purpose-built wellness centre, yuoga studio, treatment rooms, saunas and ice baths.

30. Octant Praia Verde, Portugal

Scheduled for a spring 2026 relaunch following a renovation, Octant Praia Verde will reopen with a four-treatment room spa.

Facilities will include a heated indoor pool, sauna and steam room, as well as a new adults-only outdoor pool.

31. Cavallino Bianco Caorle, Venezia, Italy

Located in the coastal town of Carole, just outside of Venice, Cavallino Bianco Caorle will feature a 4,000sqm wellness centre. There will be heated pools, saunas, holistic treatments and an adults-only rooftop spa with an Infinity Sky Pool.

Lea’s Beauty & Spa will occupy the top floor offering saunas and a panoramic infinity pool. It is scheduled to open in May 2026.

32. Conrad Corfu, Greece

Anticipated to open in May, Conrad Corfu will be Hilton’s first luxury resort in Greece. At its centre will sit the Aqua Piazza, a reflective lagoon for gathering rather than swimming.

Facilities will include indoor and outdoor heated pools and a spa with vitality pool, infrared sauna and snow shower, plus ONAR and Swissline treatments.

33. The Lake Como Edition, Italy

 

Coming in March 2026, the Lake Como Edition, first built in 1830, has been revitalised in collaboration with Neri&Hu and architects De.Tales.

 

Powered by The Longevity Spa, the spa will be the first of its kind on Lake Como, offering a science-based approach to wellness rooted in diagnostics, holistic therapies and biohacking.

 

The spa will feature ten treatment rooms, an indoor vitality pool, a Turkish bath, herbal sauna and plunge pools. Signature treatments will use Le Labo products.

34. W Sardinia – Poltu Quatu, Sardinia

Opening April 2026, W Sardinia – Poltu Quatu, continues W Hotels’ expanding presence in Italy. The hotel will feature the brand’s immersive Away Spa experience.

35. Hilton Chania Old Town Resort & Spa, Greece

Anticipated to open in Q2 2026, Hilton Chania Old Town Resort will feature a 600sqm spa, plus a rooftop pool club.

36. Grand Hotel Timeo, Sicily, Italy

Grand Hotel Timeo reopens its Villa Timeo in May 2026, following a redesign by acclaimed interior designer Laura Gonzalez.

The hotel will also reveal a new Dior Spa with Bio-Energising therapies and haute-couture facials.

 37. Amoh, Rhodes, Greece

A Luxury Collection Resort opening in Q2, Amoh will offer a 700sqm spa channelling ancient healing traditions alongside modern wellness therapies.

38. Hotel Crillon le Brave, France – April

Reopening with new wellness offerings in April 2026, Hotel Crillon le Brave in Provence has reimagined the Spa des Écuries.

Facilities will include a hammam, sauna, hot tub and cold baths, with treatments by Tata Harper and SeeMyCosmetics.

47. Six Senses the Palm, Dubai

The brand’s first entry into the UAE, Six Senses the Palm, Dubai will have a 5,574sqm social and wellness club, plus a Six Senses Spa.

48. Jayasom, Saudi Arabia

Opening at AMAALA’s Triple Bay in spring 2026, Jayasom has set out its intention to create a new benchmark in integrated wellbeing.

It will deliver personalised, multidisciplinary wellness journeys that combine Western evidence-based practices with holistic Arabic traditions.

49. Raffles the Red Sea

Raffles the Red Sea will open in mid 2026 on Shura Island, with a signature Raffles Spa.

50. Fairmont the Red Sea

Billed for a May 2026 opening, Fairmont the Red Sea will include a signature Fairmont spa.

51. Janu Al Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE

The brand’s second property in the UAE, Janu Al Marjan Island will be dedicated to soulful connection and purposeful travel with a Janu Wellness centre, banya and hammam.

52-56. Red Sea Global’s AMAALA

The AMAALA luxury wellness destination in Saudi Arabia will see a number of significant openings from hospitality giants during 2026.

Phase One of AMAALA – focused on Triple Bay – will include Clinique La Prairie, Rosewood, the Ritz-Carlton, Equinox Resort, Nammos Resort and Six Senses AMAALA, all set to open in the coming year.

57. The Malkai, Oman

Opening in autumn 2026, the Malkai is predicted to be a first-of-its kind immersion into Oman’s heritage across three tented camp locations.

The Malkai will take a broad approach to wellness, drawing inspiration from Oman’s ancient healing in a series of spa Pavilions.

58. Tulah Clinical Wellness, Kerala, India

Opening in February 2026, Tulah will draw from Ayurveda, Vedanta, Yoga, Tibetan and Traditional Chinese Medicine, weaving advanced diagnostics and regenerative therapies into its journeys. It will have 14 treatment rooms immersed in rewilded forests and regenerative waters.

Urban Tulah, a series of city-based clinical wellness hubs, will launch in Dubai in 2026.

59. Capella Kyoto, Japan

Set to open in March, Capella Kyoto will have an Auriga Spa, part of Capella’s acclaimed wellness brand.

The Auriga Spa at Capella Kyoto will feature three private onsen rooms as well as wet and dry saunas, four treatment rooms and a fitness centre.

60. Mama Shelter, Liverpool

Ennismore’s Mama Shelter Liverpool will open in the George Henry Lee building following a £25 million redevelopment, to include a Spa Mama Skin.

61. W Manchester

Predicted to open in Q1 of 2027, Marriott International’s W Manchester will sit within the city’s new St Michael’s development and include an AWAY Spa.

62. Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, Oxfordshire

Belmond Hotel’s Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons closes in January 2026 for an 18-month redevelopment.

When it reopens in summer 2027, the two-Michelin-starred hotel and restaurant, founded in 1984 by Raymond Blanc, will include a new spa.

63. The Oberoi, Mayfair, London

Indian luxury hospitality group, Oberoi, will make its UK debut in London’s Mayfair in 2027.

Well known for high-end wellness offerings, the South Molton site in Mayfair is being developed by Grosvenor and EIH London Investments.

64. Six Senses Quexigal Palace, Spain

In 2027, Six Senses will recreating a magical 16th-century royal village near Madrid at Six Senses Quexigal Palace.

65. Chenot aboard ULYSSIA

Chenot has announced a partnership with ULYSSIA, a 320m residential superyacht being designed by naval architect Espen Øino.

ULYSSIA will feature 122 private residences and every resident will gain exclusive access to Chenot’s medical, health and wellness programmes.

The full onboard Chenot experience will span 1,900sqm and replicate the services available at Chenot Palaces. The Chenot spa aboard is due to launch in 2029.

66. Six Senses Loire Valley, France

Sitting in a Unesco World Heritage site, Six Senses Loire Valley is scheduled to open in 2027.
