Westin Hotels & Resorts, Marriott Hotel’s luxury city retreat brand, has opened its first Heavenly Spa by Westin in London, UK.

Designed to encourage guests to focus on their wellbeing while travelling, Westin’s urban retreat concept plays a key role in the brand’s overall approach to wellness.

The new Heavenly Spa is located at Westin London City on Upper Thames Street

An urban sanctuary

Located at Westin London City on Upper Thames Street, the new spa features five treatment rooms and a host of thermal experiences including a sauna, steam room, sensory shower and ice fountain.

Other facilities include a relaxation room, nail salon and a restaurant offering nutritious food options, as well as a juice bar and gym outfitted with Technogym equipment.

Historic former bath-house

The spa’s swimming pool, sensitively positioned around the archaeological remains of the Huggin Hill Bath-house, is designed to reflect the history of the property and is complete with day beds for ultimate relaxation.

Its treatment menu offers a range of therapies, including massages, facials and specialist Ayurvedic rituals, from brands such as Aromatherapy Associates, Philosophia Botanica and Germaine de Capuccini.

A Heavenly Spa concept

The Heavenly Spa concept is rooted in six principles – Sleep Well, Eat Well, Move Well, Feel Well, Work Well and Play Well.

Offering a tranquil escape from hectic city life, the spa provides experiences that stimulate ‘the seven senses’ – the five physical senses of sight, sound, smell, touch and taste, as well as ‘the psychological senses of meaning and emotion’.

The spa’s design details include textured bath stone and a soft colour palette of aqua blues and sage greens.

Leave your troubles by the door

Before entering, guests are invited to unburden their worries by symbolically placing them into a burden box attached to the treatment room door.

Described as a ‘signature moment’ in all guests’ journeys, the burden box is designed to relieve guests of any negative feelings before beginning their treatments.

Following their treatment, guests are encouraged to unwind in the relaxation room with a cup of white tea.

Be well...
