The UK Spa Association (UKSA) has revealed a new national partnership with cancer support charity Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) UK.

Look Good Feel Better helps people manage the physical and emotional side effects of cancer treatment. Through the partnership, UKSA members will have the opportunity to directly support LGFB’s confidence-boosting workshops, local cancer community events and fundraising initiatives.

The collaboration will create a new avenue for the spa and wellness industry to make a tangible difference and help cancer patients to feel more like themselves during and after treatment.

“As an industry built around care, healing and wellbeing, we have a unique role to play in supporting people during one of the most challenging times of their lives. This partnership offers our members a direct, impactful way to give back, using their skills to support those on their cancer journey.”

Formed 31 years ago, Look Good Feel Better UK supports more than 15,000 people each year across the UK. It helps those living with cancer to regain confidence by offering expert-led workshops and practical support.

Workshops focus on skincare and makeup, hair-loss support and head wrapping, as well as hand and nail care. A dedicated programme for men offers straight-forward solutions and wellness support.

Joining forces with UKSA will allow the charity to expand its reach and connect with more patients.

“The spa and wellness community understands better than most the power of touch, care and connection,” said Mark Flannery, chief executive at Look Good Feel Better UK. “Together, we can help to provide education, safe spaces, peer support and wonderful experiences to those on their cancer treatment journey.

“Our aim is to boost self-confidence, reduce social isolation and help people to live a life to the fullest during a significantly challenging time,” Flannery added.

“This partnership is a monumental development. By bringing our two worlds together, we can support those with cancer and showcase the spa industry as a safe and supportive space for patients.”

The national partnership will debut a series of joint initiatives including workshop delivery in hotel and spa venues, team volunteering opportunities, fundraising campaigns, awareness events and bespoke training.

“All of our activations will enable spa and wellness professionals to become advocates and active supporters of people living with cancer,” said UKSA general manager Bobby Griffiths.
