Titanic Spa, an eco-spa based in Yorkshire, UK, has launched the ‘Rescue and Care for Moon Bears’ spa break, as part of its year-long ‘Spa for Our Planet’ campaign with animal charity Born Free.

Starting this month, the retreat includes access to the spa’s Heat & Ice Spa experience, access to the leisure club and relaxation lounge and Bar 1911, as well as accommodation and continental breakfast, a one-course lunch, a two-course evening meal and complimentary use of robes, towels and slippers.

“We know that ending the exploitation of these beautiful and intelligent creatures will be something close to our customer’s hearts.”

Supporting the highly intelligent Moon Bear, which is currently at risk of extinction due to loss of habitat caused by deforestation, the retreat also includes a Born Free adoption pack and supports the foundation’s work with Animals Asia, a bear sanctuary in Vietnam that provides veterinary care to rescued bears.

It’s estimated that there is a population of approximately 25,000 Moon Bears in Asia, however, of that number an estimated 10,000 are believed to be in captivity in appalling conditions in China and Vietnam, where their bile is used in some traditional medicines.

“With World Bear Day on March 23 – a celebration dedicated to the rescue and protection of bears around the world – we wanted to support Moon Bears for the next phase of our Spa for Our Planet campaign,” said Titanic Spa director Warrick Burton.

“We know that ending the exploitation of these beautiful and intelligent creatures will be something close to our customer’s hearts and we hope that our guests, both old and new, will join us in this mission to build a better future.”
