Global luxury hotel operator, The Lux Collective, has announced its development pipeline for 2025. New openings are planned for China, Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

The group’s brand of boutique properties SALT will debut outside of Mauritius with two openings in China.

Meanwhile the brand’s flagship luxury brand LUX* will launch in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, as well as growing its presence in Africa with a safari-camp in Botswana.

Each new LUX* hotel will include the brand’s restorative LUX* ME Spa concept.

“I’m delighted to lead the group on this exciting phase of global expansion and strategic growth. The latest projects for LUX* and SALT will provide gateways to emerging travel destinations, enabling travellers to delve into the unique identity of each region.”

Olivier Chavy

Chief executive officer, The Lux Collective

“The Lux Collective is a pioneering Mauritian brand, which puts people, exceptional service and extraordinary experiences first,” continues Chavy.

“We believe luxury and environmental stewardship must coexist for every resort we open and focus is on creating positive impact and meaningful experiences with a sense of place.”

Expansion of the SALT brand

Launched by The Lux Collective in 2018, SALT offers a humanistic approach to hospitality – connecting modern explorers to meaningful travel experiences, sustainability and local communities.

In Q2, Lux will debut SALT in Anji, China, a tranquil region known for its white tea and bamboo forests.

A 2.5-hour drive from Shanghai, SALT of Anji is being designed by South African architect Peter Rich, and is inspired by Catalan architect Gaudí’s use of natural stone to create show-stopping structures.

The sustainability-focused resort will feature 108 guest rooms and villas, an outdoor pool and a SALT Equilibrium spa centre.

SALT of Mount Siguniang will launch in 2027, located in a Tibetan village in the Sichuan province.

Near the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, Mount Siguniang National Park, it will be the first international property to open in this protected area.

LUX* expands its presence

LUX* has entered into its first hotel management agreement in Southern Africa, with Diamond Power Pty Ltd, to open LUX* Xinii Mababe, Botswana.

An ultra-luxury safari and wellness destination, it is being designed with sustainability in mind. This futuristic project is slated to open in Q1 2027.

The Lux Collective will operate and manage a new project. The resort will feature 26 lodges with minimalistic architecture, each featuring a centrepiece emulating striking African trees.

LUX* Middle East

LUX* will also debut in the Middle East and grow its presence in Asia.

LUX* Al Bridi and LUX* Al Jabal will open in Sharjah, UAE in Q4 2025. A 45-key boutique-style resort overlooking the Gulf of Oman, LUX* Al Jabal will offer a LUX* ME Spa.

Located in the wilderness, LUX* Al Bridi will comprise 35 safari-style tented retreats, created to resemble sand dunes.
