The iconic Grand Brighton Hotel has reopened its newly refurbished spa, as the final phase of a £17m hotel refurbishment.

The £2.5m spa, named L. Raphael Beauty Spa & Wellness, marks Swiss skincare brand L. Raphael Genève’s UK debut.

The 699sqm spa features six treatment rooms offering a curated menu of L. Raphael Genève face and body treatments, including pioneering oxygen and ultrasound treatments.

Signature treatments include the Secret of Lake Geneva, a customised aromatherapy massage, and the Revive Fusion Facial, which blends oxygen therapy with a diamond exfoliation to stimulate circulation and collagen production.

Thermal spa facilities

A new thermal suite by DaleSauna features a bespoke hydrotherapy pool, a hot tub and a bespoke sized sauna cabin finished in thermo-ayous timbers.

There is also an aromatherapy steam room and invigorating showers. The experience showers, in shaped mosaic enclosures, have wall-mounted jets that release 50 litres of water a minute.

Other features of the spa include relaxation areas and an open-plan gym, dedicated manicure and pedicure stations, and a cold plunge shower.

The refurbishment’s interior design, including the spa, has been executed by Garuda Design.

“This collaboration with L. Raphael Genève reflects our continued commitment to providing the finest in luxury, wellness and a genuine sanctuary for every person that sets foot through our doors.”

General manager, the Grand Brighton

“The Grand Brighton provides an outstanding level of care and commitment, putting their guest’s experience above everything else, which is exactly what we also do,” said Ronit Raphael, founder of L. Raphael Genève.

“The elegant design appeals to all five senses and is immediately recognisable to our globe-trotting customers, who have come to see us in Geneva, Cannes or the US.”

The spa is offering yearly memberships for £1,600, which include unlimited use of the thermal and fitness suites, as well as two 50-minute massages or signature facials.

A British hotel icon

Originally opened in July 1864, the Grand was the original ‘Palace By The Sea’. Throughout its 161-year history, the hotel has become synonymous with tranquil luxury and impeccable customer service.

The total refurbishment has seen all 205 bedrooms and bathrooms renovated.

Behind the brand

Founded by Ronit Raphael, L. Raphael Genève was born from her sad yet inspiring life story.

Age 18, she tried a chemical peel that seriously damaged her skin and left her with second degree burns. She spent years learning everything she could about skincare before teaming up with Professor Meir Shinitzky and Dr Raphael Gumener to create the brand.

Raphael Genève currently has a flagship store in Geneva as well as spas at The Four Seasons Hotel in New York and Hotel Martinez in Cannes.

In the US, the brand also runs the L. Raphael Temple of Beauty in Midtown Manhattan and the Spa Montage Beverly Hills. The Longevity Hotel and Spa in Mexico is coming soon.
