Spa L’Occitane en Provence at French hotel Le Couvent des Minimes has been awarded the ECOCERT Sustainable Wellness Establishment certification.

The spa is the first in the world to receive the certification from the ECOCERT Group, which has been promoting sustainable practices for more than 30 years.

The label recognises an outstanding commitment to the wellbeing of both people and the planet.

The certification is the result of months of collaboration between the spa teams at Le Couvent des Minimes and ECOCERT experts.

"At L'Occitane en Provence, wellbeing and sustainability are inseparable. More than a commitment, it's a philosophy that guides each of our actions. Obtaining this ECOCERT label demonstrates our desire to always go above and beyond, to continue to learn, and to promote these new practices across our entire network of spas."

ECOCERT Sustainable Wellness Establishment certification

ECOCERT is based on three key dimensions:

  • The use of certified natural and/or organic products
  • The implementation of social criteria ensuring wellbeing at work
  • The reduction of environmental impact

At the Spa L’Occitane en Provence, these three pillars are met through treatments using L’Occitane en Provence products, many of which are certified organic.

Internal training sessions raise staff awareness of responsible water and energy management to help reduce the spa’s environmental footprint.

Finally, geothermal energy is used throughout the site as a source of heating and cooling for the spaces and pools. This technology reduces the site’s environmental impact and reflects its commitment to sustainability strategy.
