A spokesperson for Six Senses has confirmed to European Spa that its London opening is currently planned for Q4 of this year.

The Six Senses Spa space will be reminiscent of an old-fashioned London underground station, and will mirror the different energies of city life.

The wellness offer will be set over two floors and  include a unique range of experiences to stimulate, energise and restore guests.

As well as a 20m indoor swimming pool there will be a cold plunge pool and magnesium pool. Thermal facilities will include one Finnish and two bio saunas as well as a steam room. There will also be a hammam and a flotation pod.

Treatments will be performed in two double and six single treatment rooms, as well as a sensory retreat treatment room and a cryotherapy room.

Pioneering programming will encourage growth, reflection and reconnection for guests. Biohack Recovery Lounges will offer everything from air compression massage boots and Vespa belts to percussion massage devices and facial red light therapy.

The Recovery Lounges will also offer pulsing magnetic field matts, infrared sauna blankets and a hyperbaric oxygen chamber.

“I am especially excited about the Alchemy Bar space. The area will be available for private bookings, guests can attend workshops or take part in activities like creating their own essential oil products or bespoke candles.”

“On the second floor, there will be a new kind of social and wellness club featuring a central bar and lounge, restaurant and co-working spaces,” she said.

“I am beyond excited to be part of the launch of our very first Six Senses Place. It will be a one-of-a-kind social club where wellness, community and celebration will meet, with sustainability at its core.”

“My role at Six Senses London is to deliver the brand’s vision and values, and of course its two primary pillars – wellness and sustainability.

“My aim will be to deliver out of the ordinary experiences that will inspire the spirit of hospitality and raise the bar with wellness offerings in London.”

A historic renovation

Six Senses London will occupy the art deco Whiteley building, an iconic department store in west London.

The property, part of a £1 billion renovation of the building, will include 109 guest rooms and suites, and 14 residences.

Originally a drapery shop opened in 1863 by William Whiteley, the department store became a cultural institution. It was converted into a shopping centre in the Eighties and closed in 2018.

Development firm Finchatton is leading the project in partnership with MARK and CC Land. Design is led by Foster + Partners.
