The PGA Catalunya Resort near Girona in north-west Spain, has invested €5m (£4.46m) in a new wellness centre that will open in the first quarter of 2021.

Designed by Barcelona’s Lagula Arquitectes, treatment rooms at the new 1,000sqm centre will offer a range of luxurious experiences with medical-backed modalities including cryotherapy, IV infusions, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and bio-photo modulation.

PGA Catalunya Resort is built with an environmentally conscious design

“Our resort being set in such expansive surroundings has led to us to experience a large increase in interest, as open spaces are now, more than ever, of paramount importance. The benefits of the surrounding nature, outdoor experiences and our wellness and sports facilities are very much in demand.

“One of our main priorities is now to offer exceptional experiences that focus on physical and mental health as the core of our philosophy.”

The new facility builds on PGA Catalunya’s WELL Villa concept, which debuted in 2020 to provide guests with a ‘holistic living experience’ that includes pioneering technology focused on the tenets of mind, air, water, nutrition, light, exercise and comfort.

Located around an hour from Barcelona in 540 hectares of Mediterranean forest, PGA Catalunya was created to offer a truly holistic experience that integrates physical and mental health.

The resort also has its own resident environmental biologist, Oriol Dalmau, who is dedicated to preserving and stimulating the ecological environment of the property.
