Located in the city of Oxford, The Store sits in a building that was once home to one of the world’s oldest department stores, Boswells.

The two buildings that made up Boswells have been reimagined as a hotel and spa with a restaurant, rooftop bar and co-working bar.

The Spa at The Store is a subterranean retreat offering results-driven treatments delivered by Oskia. Its menu will offer bespoke anti-ageing techniques focused on cellular skin nutrition and drawing both on traditional knowledge and modern advancements.

VERDEN, which means ‘earth’ in Danish, will be providing the guest room amenities.

Yoga, sound baths and visiting wellness masters

The spa’s facilities include private treatment rooms and a holistic studio space that will offer a regular programme of yoga classes, as well as sound baths by appointment.

Yoga will also be on offer in other areas of the hotel, weather permitting, and a wellbeing calendar is being created, featuring visiting wellness masters, advanced practitioners and movement experts.

The boutique spa comprises three private treatment rooms as well as a Nordic-influenced gym and thermal suite encompassing a sauna, herbal steam, experience shower and relaxation loungers.

A spa to pamper the senses

“We’re incredibly excited to launch The Store’s walnut-walled sanctuary of wellbeing. Based in the heart of Oxford, The Store’s Spa will be a subtle combination of inner and outer peace,” said spa manager Astrid Beccard.

“Our team will deliver the best of Oskia’s facial and body treatments. The addition of an award-winning hypnotherapist, a personal trainer, a dietician and a yoga teacher will allow us to offer a full service range of solutions for our guests.

“The spa itself is artistically styled. Everything has been designed so each of the five senses are pampered to create a powerful sense of peace and relaxation.”

The spa’s interior design was created by Urban R, Reef Group’s team of architects and designers.

It has been informed by the heritage of the building and incudes multi-purpose open-plan public spaces divided into different areas and  reminiscent of a department store.

The hotel has 101 rooms with six district design typologies, bringing the rich tapestry of Oxford inside.
