Ikos Resorts forges ahead with Mediterranean expansion plans

Owner-operator Ikos Resorts has revealed more about its significant expansion plans across the Mediterranean.

With a total investment in excess of €400m (£345m), Ikos Resorts has acquired Athos Palace, Pallini Beach and Theophano Imperial in Halkidiki, Greece. It will fully redevelop the three properties into Ikos Kassandra, which will be the first Ikos Grand Resort.

Further expansion is planned in Crete, with Ikos Kissamos, the brand’s most ambitious luxury hotel and spa development to date.

Ikos is also expanding in Spain and Portugal, with Ikos Marbella in Spain and Ikos Cortesia in the Algarve, Portugal, expected to open from 2026 to 2028.

Celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, the group currently has seven spa resorts in Greece and Spain.

Ikos Kassandra

Scheduled to open in April 2029, Ikos Kassandra – located in Kallithea – will be the most expansive Ikos property to date.

As well as 750 rooms, suites and villas, the site will boast a state-of-the-art spa. Ikos is known for its luxury wellness offer. Ikos Porto Petro in Mallorca opened in 2023 with a 1,200sqm Anne Semonin Spa, designed by Studio Gronda.

The Ikos Spa by French beauty brand Anne Sémonin Paris is a signature feature in every resort.

Ikos Kissamos

Set to open in April 2026, this will be the brand’s eighth property and its first in Crete.

With a €150m investment, Ikos Kissamos will have 414 rooms and suites, and continue the brand’s commitment to sustainability, pursuing LEED Gold certification for Building Design and Construction.

Ikos Green standards include a net-zero carbon emission plan for 2030, elimination of single-use plastics, zero waste to landfill and 100 per cent water reuse.
