Hotel Lürzerhof in Austria’s Salzburger Land has revealed plans for a major development project to include a new adults-only spa sanctuary.

The family-owned luxury Alpine resort will introduce two new floors as well as a dramatic cantilevered infinity pool with mountain views.

The redesigned spa experience is set to open in July 2026 following a five-month closure. The two new floors will be built above the resort’s existing structure, creating a contrast with the traditional Stammhaus below.

The design has been brought to life by Salzburg-based interior architects Köck + Bachler.

The wellness crown

The new top floor will be an adults-only wellness level, spanning approximately 900sqm.

A 19m cantilevered outdoor infinity pool, heated all year-round, will offer a gravity-defying experience. Surrounded by glass balustrades to preserve the panoramic views, guests will feel as if they are suspended between the mountain peaks and the valley floor.

At the centre of the wellness floor there will be a striking glass atrium, which will draw natural light into the space, showcasing a living sculpture of alpine botanicals.

There will be a curated succession of heat experiences including a Finnish panorama sauna and organic panorama sauna, alongside an infrared salt dome and aroma steam bath.

Two panoramic relaxation rooms will have floor-to-ceiling mountain views and luxurious lounging spaces, while an intimate Tea Lounge will provide space for quiet contemplation.

“This expansion is about more than adding space; it’s about elevating the entire wellness experience at Lürzerhof and making an architectural statement that reflects our ambition,” said Harald Habersatter, owner of Hotel Lürzerhof.”

“We wanted to create something that feels both rooted in our alpine landscape and unmistakably contemporary.”

“The cantilevered pool, in particular, embodies this vision – it’s bold, beautiful and offers an experience you simply cannot find elsewhere in the region.”

A reimagined spa space

The expansion extends to a complete reimagining of the existing ground-floor spa reception.

The new design will create a light-filled arrival experience and an intimate lounge where guests can begin their spa journey or linger between treatments.

There will be new changing areas as well as two new massage rooms. Signature design features include timber slatted screens, curved spa reception desks in natural stone and wood and dramatic copper-toned archways.

On the current fourth floor, the hotel will introduce six suites and two luxury rooms, with floor-to-ceiling windows and views of Radstädter Tauern Mountain.

The expansion will take the total spa space at the property to 4,500sqm, with seven pools and multiple saunas, steam rooms and relaxation zones.

Sustainable luxury

Owned by the Habersatter family, Hotel Lürzerhof has already undergone a multi-million-euro refurbishment, completed this year.

Harald Habersatter’s vision is to position Lürzerhof as one of Austria’s most architecturally distinguished wellness destinations.

The rest, which is fully climate-positive, generates more than ten times its own energy needs through on-site hydroelectric power.

The new floors will incorporate green roofs and energy-efficient glazing.
