Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordhire is preparing to unveil a host of upgrades as part of a £14m refurbishment, when it begins to reopen after the partial lifting of UK lockdown restrictions on April 12.

A two-year schedule of work at the 150-year-old property, which is part of luxury hotel and spa group Barons Eden, has included a complete refurbishment of its Hair & Spa Boutique to create a new open-plan feel and entrance area. A new treatment lounge has also been added, providing guests with a calming area in which to relax and unwind pre- and post- treatment.

The spa’s treatment offering has also been refocused in partnership with main product house, Elemis. The list of experiences includes the brand’s Frangipani Scrub and Wrap as well as Wellbeing and Deep-Tissue full body massages.

A number of Elemis treatments are available to spa guests

A Jennifer Young Indulgent Massage is also available, which is suitable for those living with or recovering from cancer. The spa has also incorporated a range of Lava Shells experiences to replace the hot stone massages that were previously offered.

Barons Eden director, Edward Law, said, “We are expecting a huge surge in demand following a period of such uncertainty, and are already seeing an increase in bookings for the summer months and beyond.

“We know our guests are looking to treat themselves to an indulgent experience closer to home, as well as to continue to focus on their health and wellbeing.”

Freestanding baths have been installed in a number of guest rooms

The extensive spa facilities at Hoar Cross Hall include saltwater vitality and hydrotherapy pools, aqua detox and massage, sensory showers, a cold plunge pool, the Nordic Heat & Ice Suite, a snooze room and the sanctum.

A large part of the multi-million-pound refurbishment was carried out in the main hotel area, with decor updates and freestanding baths installed in several guest rooms, some of which feature hot tubs located on private outdoor terraces.

A new Royal Suite Experience will provide guests with a private butler and bar staff, fine dining in the grand Ballroom and full use of the spa facilities for stays of between one and eight nights.
