Luxury senior living member’s club operator Loveday&Co has opened a luxurious new residential care home that combines health care with hospitality.

Loveday Kensington, located across from London’s historic Kensington Square, features 40 residential suites, several of which are equipped with their own private courtyards or terraces, as well as a rooftop terrace café, a gym, a sensory garden, a nail bar, a salon and a spa.

The spa is equipped with Hydro Spa equipment from Arjo

The spa is equipped with a hydrotherapy treatment room outfitted with Arjo Hydro Spa facilities, including an Arjo Parker Hydrotherapy Bath and an Arjo Nordic Wellness Relax Chair.

A dedicated salon room offers hair services and a nail bar offering OPI manicure and pedicure treatments.

The salon furniture was supplied by SpaVision

Salon furniture, including two hair-cutting stations, a hair wash sink, mobile hood dryer and nail bar, was provided by spa equipment supplier Spa Vision, while The White Company supplied robes, slippers and towels.

The spa’s offering is completed with a separate gym and physio suite that can also be used as a third treatment room.

Neal’s Yard and Molton Brown products are used throughout the property, while products such as body wash and shampoo are used discretionally based on the medical needs of the resident. The facility also buys-in products members used at home.

Loveday Kensignton features several fine dining options and a library and cinema room

Loveday is also looking for a spa partner to develop a signature line of products and fragrances to be used in the residences.

“The idea behind this is to do it in conjunction with our members so they can help design the scents to stimulate their memories and create a house scent for each home,” the company stated.

The facility was designed by Australian company Marchese Partners

Other facilities include several fine dining restaurants and cafés as well as a library and cinema room and several relaxation areas.

Described as “the Ritz of the healthcare world”, the Loveday concept was developed by hotelier and real estate developer Laurence Geller, CBE.

“Sadly, both of my parents died of dementia six years apart. Whilst looking for care, I couldn’t find a solution that offered both outstanding care and hospitality in the same setting – I always came across the same stumbling block of having to choose between the two,” said Geller.

“We believe the spa element is even more important in our properties than in a five-star hotel. Loveday is a needed evolution of hospitality, it is a new luxury, boutique care brand which enables people to live their best lives.“

“I couldn’t understand why there wasn’t a five star, hotel-style operation in the care world.  As a concept creator, I decided to build a new business segment to fill this market gap.

“After all I knew about hospitality as a lifetime hotelier, and now equipped with a good understanding of the care world, I felt it was time to address the gap and launch a new industry brand to provide the very best in care, services, hospitality and experiences and improve the lives of our members and their loved ones. Thus, Loveday was born.”

“We see ourselves as innovators, not industry disruptors. There is not currently a business segment that exists delivering this new pioneering proposition. It’s a revolution to have this kind of care, superior design, crafted nutrition and food menus, tailormade lifestyle and spa within a care setting,” Geller added.

Loveday is set to open two more care homes in London’s Abbey Road and Notting Hill later this year.
