H Spa debuts at historic Horwood House Hotel

A new spa has opened at the grade II-listed Horwood House Hotel in Buckinghamshire, UK. 

H Spa is the result of a £6 million refurbishment of the spa, guest rooms, lounges and event spaces. 

The spa offers views and access to the historic Horwood House Hotel grounds, with facilities including six treatment rooms as well as a thermal suite, a sauna, a steam room and a 15m indoor swimming pool, equipped with heated poolside tranquillity beds. 

A leisure club, outfitted with Matrix equipment and offering Pilates and boxercise classes, completes the offering.

Face and body treatments from Caudalie

The treatment menu boasts rituals from French natural skincare brand Caudalie, including the Vinosource Hydrating & Nourishing Facial, which uses Caudalie’s Vinosource-Hydra products to restore moisture levels and renew the skin.

The brand’s Resveratrol Lift Facial Firming, Lifting and Anti-Wrinkle treatment, which combines products from its Resveratrol Lift range, developed in partnership with Harvard Medical School, with specialist massage techniques for firmer skin. 

Body treatments include the Relaxing & Nourishing Wrap, the Crushed Cabernet Body Treatment and the Fleur de Vigne Candle Massage, as well as a Pre-Natal Massage aimed at expectant mothers to improve skin tone and elasticity, boost circulation and relieve tension. Beauty and nail services are also available. 

New spa packages unveiled

In addition, H Spa has launched several packages, including Rural Retreat, an overnight stay including spa access and a 50-minute treatment, as well as afternoon tea and £30 credit towards dinner at Harry’s Bar & Restaurant, and breakfast the following morning. A £10 spa retail voucher and gift bag are also included.

Day spa packages include All About You, which includes spa access, welcome refreshments, afternoon tea and a robe and slippers, while Peaceful Escape includes a 50-minute treatment, a two-course lunch or afternoon tea in the spa lounge and a £10 spa retail voucher.

Horwood House Hotel links grounds and interiors

Designed to emphasise the property’s link to nature, the spa’s interiors were created by Ica, a Glasgow-based firm specialising in hospitality architecture and interior design, with soft tones combining with linen-style drapes, brass details and natural finishes. 

“The design has been considered as part of the overall hotel refurbishment and is in keeping with the design ethos throughout the hotel,” said a statement from Ica interior designer Rona McDonald. 

“The emphasis was on developing links with the tranquil landscaped grounds, which are a key element of the hotel, and creating interiors with a modern country ambience. Subtle, natural finishes are used along with carefully considered lighting design to create a calming, luxurious hideaway within the hotel.”

State-of-the-art facilities

“With state-of-the-art facilities and the hotel’s surrounding picturesque grounds, we wanted to ensure H Spa became a tranquil and luxurious hideaway within the hotel. We worked with ICA, an exceptional architecture and design studio, to bring our vision of H Spa to life.

“We wanted the spa’s interiors to tie in with the hotel’s rural grounds, so we implemented modern country styling with soft tonal colours, brass detailing and usage of natural materials such as timber plank and stone tiling to create a textured but upmarket feel.”
