Gisborough Hall in North Yorkshire has announced construction has commenced on its new Sakura Spa.

A ground-nreaking ceremony was led by Lord Gisborough and the historic country house hotel’s managing director, Perry Chaloner.

Located on the tip of the North York Moors, the multi-million pound Sakura Spa will invite guests to reconnect with the natural world through an immersive holistic experience.

The wellness retreat will feature six treatment rooms as well as relaxation lounges. There will be an extensive thermal garden featuring a vitality pool, saunas, steam room and a dining space exclusive to spa guests.

“Sakura Spa has been a dream in the making for some time; seeing the first steps take shape is incredibly special. It will blend contemporary design with charm and character, a true enhancement to the Gisborough Hall experience,” said Chaloner.

Sakura Spa will welcome both day guests and overnight visitors. The woodland wellness retreat is predicted to open in 2026.

“As a family, we remain deeply committed to the long-term future of Gisborough Hall,” said owner, Lord Gisborough. “The creation of Sakura Spa is a significant investment that reflects our belief in the potential of this place.

“The spa represents more than just a new chapter for our hotel. It is a heartfelt investment in wellbeing, inspired by the surrounding woodland.”
