The Galgorm Collection reveals £10 million spa investment plans

The Galgorm Collection, an operator of luxury hotels and resorts, has revealed details of an ambitious £10 million redevelopment project of its spa resort, Galgorm Spa and Golf Resort in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. 

The spa investment forms the first phase of a £30 million project, that will see the creation of 50 hospitality jobs and aims to extend the resort, enhance its spa facilities to cement its position as a world-class international wellness destination. 

Plans include the addition of several new accommodation options and a £2.5 million investment in the resort’s award-winning Thermal Spa Village.

The project will ‘further expand the authentic Irish Spa experience’ with the addition of new hot and cold outdoor spa experiences, as well as a second outdoor riverside pool. The spa, which offers treatments from Aromatherapy Associates, Skinceuticals and Image skincare, will also be expanded to cover an additional two acres of land.

A further £100,000 has been invested in a new spa suite that offers stunning views of the River Maine and features its own sauna and Jacuzzi as well as private access to the spa.

Accommodation options will include several new Shepherd’s Huts and Cottage Suites, while £1.5 million will be invested in the development of brand new Treetop Hideaways.

The accommodation offering is completed by a Linen Merchants lodge, which is aimed at larger family groups, sleeping up to 10 guests, and offers a private outdoor hot tub and private garden with barbeque.

We’re delighted to expand our offering in this space with the launch of a suite of unique accommodation types,” said Colin Johnston, managing director of The Galgorm Collection.

“This latest £10 million project will see up to 50 additional accommodation units added to the resort over the next two years, which will increase our workforce and expand the estate’s footprint.”

Commenting on the project, Irish economy minister Gordon Lyons said: “My department’s Tourism Recovery Action Plan aims to create a solid foundation for recovery and a return to the record-breaking tourism figures of 2019. This announcement by Galgorm is evidence of the vital recovery already taking place within this important and much-valued sector.”

In addition, The Galgorm Collection has recently committed to an enhanced benefits package for eligible team members, as part of its ongoing commitment to invest in its people. Over the next five years, the operator will invest  £1 million into premium private health care for its employees.
