The spa and wellness facility at the Forte Village resort in Sardinia, Italy, has reopened following a €2.5m (£2.1m) renovation.

First opened in 2015, the 7,000sqm Acquaforte Thalasso & Spa is set inside 55 acres of beachfront sub-tropical park and gardens, and features an extensive thalassotherapy circuit. Developed by Dr Angelo Cerino, the circuit features six seawater pools, offering different temperatures and varying levels of magnesium concentration and saline density.

The four-month remodel saw improvement works carried out across the whole spa, with its thalassotherapy circuit being updated to include a new waterfall and cave, new showers, nape jets and hydromassage beds.

The spa worked with Italian brands including Lemi who supplied the treatment beds

Its 30 treatment rooms, changing rooms, gym and herbal tea bar also underwent significant updates.

Wanting to harness the healing power of nature and its wellbeing benefits, the spa team worked alongside Italian architecture firm Studio di Sandro Sergi e Luca Andreoni to create an immersive environment reconnecting guests to their surroundings. This was achieved by installing a new water fountain and several skylights to let in natural light.

“We believe the full refurbishment will make the spa experience more spectacular and exciting than ever.“

Lorenzo Giannuzzi

CEO & general manager, Forte Village

Natural materials, such as wood, glass, granite, marble and a type of limestone called travertine were used throughout and new trees, plants and herbs were added to further emphasise the connection to nature.

Additionally, the resort has announced a host of new personalised programmes and treatments,  by Dr Barbara Sturm, as well as products sourced from local skincare brands including Helixarda, Dhea Mather and Phareco.

The spa also worked with a host of Italy-based suppliers including Technogym and Lemi, while local artisans provided that spa’s linens, uniforms and herbal teas.

The spa's famous thalassotherapy circuit has been further improved

“We’re thrilled to unveil the new completely renovated Acquaforte Thalasso & Spa, which accentuates its beautiful natural setting immersed in lush gardens,” Lorenzo Giannuzzi, general manager and CEO of Forte Village and founder of Palazzo Fiuggi, told European Spa

“We believe the full refurbishment will make the spa experience more spectacular and exciting than ever,” Giannuzzi added.
