Luxury Marriott Bonvoy resort Le Méridien Ra, near Barcelona in Spain, has revealed its new Explore Spa.

Located in El Vendrell, Catalonia on the Costa Daurada, Explore Spa is set in a building originally constructed in 1929, first designed to be a children’s hospital.

It became one of Spain’s earliest purpose-built sanctuaries for healing, offerings guests the chance to harness the sea air, natural light and mineral-rich seawater from the 1920’s.

At 7,200sqm and with 35 treatment rooms, the new spa is one of the largest in Spain. Facilities include four rooftop thalasso pools , supplied by Bosch Pascual, that harness the benefits of the Mediterranean Sea.

A bio-sauna, ice room and hammam were supplied by Inbeca. There is also an aromatherapy steam room, salt wall tepidarium with heated stone loungers and a 900sqm hydrotherapy terrace.

The menu offers personalised face and body treatments using Natura Bissé, SeaSkin Life and Alqvimia, as well as thalassotherapy bathing circuits. Treatments are either energising, balancing or grounding.

Signature offerings include the Oceanic Renewal by SeaSkin Life, a deep massage atop a quartz crystal bed paired with 30 minutes of salt inhalation and crystal bowl sound healing.
