European Spa remembers Henri Chenot

The death of Henri Chenot, a pioneer of preventative health and medicine and founder of the Chenot Group, was announced in a statement by the Group yesterday (December 2).

Born in 1943, Chenot was a passionate advocate of healthy living and taking a positive approach to ageing. Fascinated by the impact of lifestyle on the genetic ageing process, in the 1970s he coined the term Biontology to describe a new way of studying the ageing process.

The inspirational wellness leader was one of the first to talk about “successful ageing”, believing that the answer to a long and healthy life lies in the correct combination of genetics, lifestyle behaviour and environment.

Chenot’s legacy will continue in the work of the Chenot Group’s growing portfolio, which is led by Dr George Gaitanos.

The most recent addition to its offering was the cutting-edge medical wellness centre at Chenot Palace Weggis in Switzerland, which officially launched in mid-2020 and exemplifies the company’s continuing commitment to push the boundaries of preventative evidence-based wellness.

Henri Chenot’s wife and co-founder of the businesses, Dominique, said: “Henri was larger than life and his remarkable passion and talent had enormous impact on both preventative and rejuvenating care; his insight would become the origin of a world-renowned wellness movement.

“We are grateful for the support and kindness of those who share our feelings for Henri. We know many of you will mourn with us, and we ask that you respect our privacy during our time of grief.”
