Energise at Éalú, a new health, fitness and wellness centre, has opened on the Ashford Castle Estate in Ireland.

Éalú, meaning ‘escape’ in Irish, is a 1,080sqm pavilion-style building with expansive floor-to-ceiling windows.

As well as a 15m swimming pool by Bracken Pools, there is a Life Fitness-equipped gym, functional fitness studio and therapy room.

Trainers are available in the gym and functional studio to help tailor activity to guests’ personal goals. The Halo app is available for on-demand workouts aimed at every level of fitness, including live and recorded interactive classes.

Biophilic design on the Ashford Estate

The new building has a biophilic design to bring the outside in and combine natural light with views of the west Ireland landscape.

It is the vision of architects and designers Toni Tollman and Brian Brennan from The Red Carnation Hotel Collection.

“Éalú follows a multi-million euro investment,” says Niall Rochford, general manager of the Ashford Estate. “We’re thrilled to welcome an additional ten team members to the estate to help ensure Éalú can be many things to many people.”

"Éalú, the Irish word for escape, perfectly encapsulates the essence of this extraordinary establishment. With its biophilic architecture, Éalú is not just a fitness centre; it's an escape into a realm of health."

The pool area is complemented by relaxation loungers, a sunken hot tub, an essence-infused steam room by Bracken Pools and a KLAFS sauna in bespoke Swiss stone pine wood. There is also a separate children’s splash pool.

In the therapy suite, holistic personalised massage uses The Diamond Well Living Collection from Natura Bissé.

The changing rooms are stocked with amenities by Irish brand Anam the Hand Made soap Company, uniforms are by Macade and towels are supplied by BC SoftWear.

“This new addition for the Ashford Estate allows guests to enhance their experience and personal journey,” said director of spa and wellness, Michelle Ryan.

“Our owners, the Tollman family from Red Carnation Hotels, strive to ensure that Ashford is always offering the best guests experience to enhance the Irish tourism industry.”
