Chanyapak Suwankantha named as wellness director at Chiva-Som

Chanyapak Suwankantha has been named as wellness director at leading Thai wellness destination Chiva-Som. 

A graduate of Chaing Mai University’s Faculty of Nursing and the prestigious Swiss Hotel Management School, Suwankantha has been with Chiva-Som for several years, joining the resort in 2014 as manager of its aesthetic clinic, Niranlada Medi-Spa. 

In 2020, she was promoted to resort operations manager, where she was responsible for overseeing the health and wellness team and the site’s extensive wellness facilities. 

Leading a world-class team

In her new role, she will guide the resort’s wellness philosophy, lead its team of world-class experts and oversee all aspects of the guest wellbeing experience. She will also be responsible for developing new programmes and treatments in response to guests’ changing needs.

Commenting on her appointment, Suwankantha said: “I’m very excited to take on the new role of wellness director.

“I look forward to working with my fellow directors to innovate and expand our holistic approach and to maintain our position as the world’s leading destination.”

The Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som

Suwankantha’s appointment follows the news that Chiva-Som has recently launched its first overseas outpost; The Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som in Qatar.

Helmed by Sandie Johannessen, the resort is said to be the country’s largest wellness destination, spanning an impressive 280,000sqm, and is home to one of the world’s first dedicated Traditional Arabic and Islamic Medical (TAIM) centres. 

Its wellness offering is based on six pillars: Spa, Nutrition, Fitness, Physiotherapy, Aesthetics and Holistic Health.
