The British Beauty Council has announced that this year’s British Beauty Week (BBW), set to take place from September 5-11, will celebrate the ‘power of beauty’. 

For this year’s event, the council is encouraging brands, retailers, salons, charities and ecommerce platforms of all sizes to develop engaging initiatives that will demonstrate the power of beauty to members of the public, business leaders and policymakers.

“The beauty industry has the ability to change lives and transform Britain’s economic and social fabric. We want everyone to celebrate that fact,” said Mille Kendall, OBE, CEO of the British Beauty Council. 

“Many people have underestimated the power of beauty. But if the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that our industry is at the heart of every community. It brings people together, it boosts confidence and wellbeing, and it provides an enormous contribution to the UK’s GDP. This is all something to celebrate,” she added.

British Beauty Week is one of many British Beauty Council initiatives that spotlight the value of the industry to the UK economy and its power within communities.  

Since its inception three years ago, the British Beauty Council has championed the beauty industry, providing guidance and support to thousands of workers (88% of which are women). Its successes include winning an additional £500 million in government-backed support throughout the pandemic. 

For 2022 the council aims to continue using its positive influence to affect change and cultivate industry investment.
