The Barons Eden hotel group, which owns and operates Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire and Eden Hall in Nottinghamshire, has announced the acquisition of the Ardencote Hotel in Warwickshire.

The hotel, which has a spa with nine treatment rooms and leisure club facilities, is a 110-bedroom Victorian manor house. Set within 83 acres, it was originally built in 1862 and previously owned by the Huckerby family.

The purchase is Barons Eden’s first acquisition since securing investment from private equity firm Alchemy Partners.

“We are delighted to have acquired Ardencote Manor, which represents our first acquisition since Alchemy’s investment. We intend to further develop the facilities and features in the hotel and spa, with significant investment into the property to deliver a high-quality Barons Eden style spa resort offering.”

CEO, Barons Eden

Ardencote Hotel currently offers wedding and conference space, three restaurants and bars, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, three tennis courts, a gym and two squash courts.

Planned refurbishment details have yet to be revealed.

“We have enjoyed the many years we have spent building Ardencote into a high quality, luxury hotel,” said Ardencote’s previous owner, Dale Huckerby. “We trust that Ardencote is in safe hands with Barons Eden.”

Barons Eden, established in 1989, has award-winning spas at both Hoar Cross Hall and Eden Hall, two of the largest spa resorts in Europe.

In July 2024, Hoar Cross Hall opened a £3m spa terrace with a three-pool deck, a rustic sauna and a relaxation room, as well as a lounge with a bar.

There are also cold tubs made from aged whiskey barrels, and six poolside cabanas made from rustic cedar wood with a fabric canopy.

Its indoor facilities include a hydrotherapy pool, hot tub and a salt water pool, as well as a Nordic heat and ice suite and the sanctum, featuring hanging pods and relaxation beds.
