Apex Waterloo Place redesigns Yu Spa and announces key appointment

The Yu Spa at the Apex Waterloo Place Hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland, will soon reopen following an extensive redesign. 

The new spa will feature three treatment rooms, two of which will serve as duet rooms for couples, as well as a thermal spa suite, a pool and a gym. 

Overseeing the rebrand is Apex Hotels’ recently appointed head of spa, Fiona Young, who has also expanded the spa’s offering to include three new day-spa packages.

Responsible for expanding the Yu Spa brand across Apex Hotels’ entire portfolio, Young began her career as a spa therapist aboard a cruise ship and has spent much of her working life in America. She returned to Scotland in 2013 and in the years since has held high-profile roles at several leading properties, including Creiff Hydro Hotel & Resort and Peebles Hydro. 

She said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to join the business at such an exciting time, as we prepare to take the Yu Spa brand into Edinburgh.”

“Yu Spa is so well established in Dundee, providing an absolutely first-class experience to hotel guests as well as day spa-goers. We’re looking to replicate that in the Scottish capital, by providing a relaxing oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city – somewhere people can escape and take time for themselves to relax and unwind.” 

“As well as developing new treatment menus and packages in preparation for the launch at Apex Waterloo Place Hotel in October, there are exciting plans ahead for the Yu Spa brand across the portfolio that I cannot wait to bring to life with the rest of the team,” she added.
