UK country manor hotel Cowdray House, in West Sussex, will unveil its new 420sqm spa this autumn.

Available exclusively to guests, the spa has been integrated with the grade II-listed house, expanding upon its existing indoor swimming pool.

Key features include a sauna and steam room, and an outdoor hydrotherapy pool, designed and made bespoke for the spa. There will also be a Concept Spa ice bath.

Treatments and wellness rituals will be by Wildsmith, including the exclusively created Cowdray Wildsmith Sauna Therapy ritual.

There will be a Technogym-equipped fitness space and a yoga and Pilates studio.

Bespoke wellness programming will include personal training, guided outdoor running and forest bathing.

“The new spa at Cowdray House is a landmark investment that further enhances our offering. As demand for luxury wellness experiences continues to grow, this new addition allows our guests to enjoy a bespoke wellbeing retreat combining exceptional facilities, exclusive treatments and the natural beauty of the estate.”

Exclusive Wildsmith rituals

As the official spa and wellness partner, Wildsmith has curated a bespoke menu of treatments and immersive rituals for Cowdray House, inspired by nature, botanical science and holistic wellbeing.

“Cowdray Estate is a place that embodies heritage, excellence and a real sense of community, values that resonate deeply with everything we stand for,” said Katherine Pye, CEO of Wildsmith.

“We’re incredibly excited about what we can build together; partnering with the Cowdray Estate is a genuine delight for us.”

Towels and spa linens will be supplied by Secret Linens, while treatment beds are from Lemi.

A connection to nature

Contrasting the historic character of Cowdray House, the new spa has been conceived with modern interiors.

An understated, natural palette of warm stone and pale oak has been used to evoke a sense of calm throughout the space.

Outdoor relaxation spaces provide a connection to nature, with guests able to move between treatment rooms, wellness facilities and terraces designed for rest, reflection and socialising.

Cowdray House is set in 110 acres of private gardens, with two lakes and parkland designed by renowned landscaper Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. The spa offers views over the South Downs National Park.
