The Barons Eden hotel group, which owns and operates Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire and Eden Hall in Nottinghamshire, has announced the acquisition of Orsett Hall Hotel & Spa in Essex.

This follows the news announced in September that the hospitality group had acquired Ardencote Hotel in Warwickshire.

This expansion programme follows Alchemy Partners’ investment earlier this year.

The impressive Georgian-style country house hotel is set within 12 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds in Orsett, Grays.

It comprises 57 en-suite bedrooms, including bridal suites, along with extensive event spaces, a chapel, five lodges and comprehensive wellness facilities.

These include pool, steam room, treatment rooms, sauna, Jacuzzi, manicure and pedicure stations.

“Orsett Hall is a particularly well-situated beautiful countryside hotel in Essex, and we are excited to have the opportunity to significantly invest in the property to create a destination spa resort so close to London,” said Edward Law, CEO of Barons Eden.

Orsett Hall’s previous owners, the Barton-Wright family, said in a statement: “Orsett Hall has been part of our family since 1993 and in that time has become so much more than just a business.”

“As we turn the page on this chapter, it feels like the right time for someone new to take Orsett Hall forward. We’re excited to see what the new owners will do with this very special place and can’t wait to watch its next chapter unfold.”

The freehold property was sold as a Transfer of a Going Concern, free from management agreements and branding restrictions.

Knight Frank acted as sole selling agent for the transaction.
