Riverhills Health Club & Spa in Ipswich, Suffolk, will reopen in May with a newly redeveloped day spa.

Since a fire severely damaged the pool and wet areas in 2023, the health club and day spa has undergone a £6m renovation.

The newly rebuilt spa includes treatment rooms and an infrared HaloSauna from Spa Vision, which combines salt therapy and infrared heat.

There will be an aroma steam room by DaleSauna plus a Snowsky Snow shower by TechnoAlpin, which mimics gentle indoor snowfall.

The thermal zone is completed by a volcano sauna by DaleSauna. Additional spa facilities include a 16m swimming pool, a vitality pool by Newson Pools, a relaxation room, heated loungers and footbaths.

“We have a great template spa to follow in Holmer Park, Hereford, which has been hugely successful spa over the last 12 years. Our plan for Riverhills is to emulate that. We will continue to invest in our team to support their ongoing development and ensure we provide welcoming, unpretentious service.”

The spa booking experience will allow guests to book time rather than specific treatments, ensuring every guest visit is bespoke.

Each spa day will begin with a personal consultation, allowing the treatment team to tailor the experience to individual guest needs and goals.

“We believe our unique approach of allowing guests to book time not treatments and to choose their treatments on the day leads to greater guest satisfaction,” said Dave Courteen, founder of Riverhills Health Club and Spa.

The spa now houses nine treatment rooms, including a mud serail room, offering Temple Spa treatments.

Outside, a sensory spa garden has been built in partnership with the Good Life Gardener, Ade Sellars.

“We will continue to invest in the spa, with a particular focus on developing and extending our outdoor spa offering,” said Courteen. “We are also working with the planners to create luxury glamping pods so we can grow our overnight spa market.”

Finally, the café area and restaurant have been expanded and there will be a new outdoor terrace.
