US spa industry is accelerating, according to new ISPA report

Latest figures reveal that revenue climbed by 5.8 per cent, reaching $22.5 billion in 2024

The US spa industry is accelerating at an impressive rate according to a new report from the International Spa Association (ISPA) released at its annual conference in Colorado this week.

Reflecting another year of positive momentum for the spa industry, revenue grew to $22.5 billion (£17.4bn/€20.7bn) in 2024.

This is positive news for the industry and important intelligence for brands based in the US as well as European-based companies targeting this market.

Drawn from the comprehensive 2025 ISPA US Spa Industry Study, the total number of spa visits increased year on year as did revenue per visit.

ISPA reports impressive growth in US spa market

Criteria for change

The ISPA Foundation commissions PwC annually to conduct the US Spa Industry Study, which provides a snapshot of the industry’s health through five key metrics – overall revenue, total spa visits, number of spa locations, revenue per visit and spa industry employment.

“By adapting to consumer demand for exceptional wellness experiences and prioritizing innovation and guest satisfaction, the industry has achieved steady growth across every key indicator while continuing to rebuild after the Covid pandemic,” said Lynne McNees, president of ISPA.
