European Spa magazine launched its Platinum Resource 2025 at Jumeriah Carlton Tower in London on January 21.

The new edition of ‘the home of global spa intelligence’ features wellness leaders, spas, trends and brands to watch for the coming year and beyond.

Guests attended from all around the UK and across Europe, including spa leaders and operators, as well as representatives of the super brands of spa.

They gathered at Jumeriah Carlton Tower for what attendees have called ‘the networking event of the year’.

“European Spa Platinum Resource 2025 is the ultimate companion for spa business success, showcasing the super brands of spa and wellness. It offers spa leaders a wealth of insight and expert advice on key challenges and trending spa topics.”

Editorial director and publisher, European Spa

Speaking at the launch event, European Spa’s editorial director and publisher, Sarah Camilleri, asked the 200-plus VIP guests: “What is real leadership today? It’s about showing up daily with passion, purpose and importantly, the right perspective. These three Ps together make all the difference.

“The global spa industry is truly a remarkable place to be right now. We’re part of the global movement to help people lead better lives. We’ve got some challenges to service the phenomenal growth we’re experiencing, but you are the leaders to shape our future.”

‘Intentional rest’ at Talise Spa

Sarah Dalton, director of wellbeing for Jumeirah, used the event to exclusively announce the evolution of the Talise Spa brand.

Launched in 2007, Talise Spa will evolve in 2025 with a curated new offering based on three pillars – performance, intention and empower.

“As well as bringing in new technologies to achieve better results for guests and take the pressure off our therapists, we will be creating spaces to empower guests that are going through discombobulating change,” said Dalton.

“We are all juggling more than humans we ever meant to juggle. Talise Spa will be creating spaces for intentional rest.”

Dalton announced that GROUND Wellbeing and Swissline will be Jumeirah’s new core product offerings, describing the brands as “the best embodiment of the direction we’re moving in.”

She also announced that Jumeirah is looking to increase its global spa portfolio significantly and will be rolling out dynamic pricing after successful trials.

“In Q4 2024 we saw a 37.5 per cent increase in treatment revenue from yield management. Dynamic is the norm in hospitality – it’s in all our benefit to consider it as a strategy. The more spas that consider this option, the more guests will come to expect it, making us as commercially viable as possible.”

Shaping spa demand in 2025

Before launching the Platinum Resource 2025 to the room, European Spa’s founding editor Sarah Camilleri led a panel debate with industry pioneer Sue Harmsworth MBE, founder of ESPA and the SATCC, Sarah Dalton and Oliver Patrick, clinical director of Pillar Wellbeing at the OWO.

“After 55 years in this industry, I can see we’re going full circle,” stated Harmsworth, when asked what will shape demand in 2025. “The need has never been greater, but we are in danger of muddling spa, wellness, wellbeing and medical.

“We need to focus on what we do best and stop trying to do things that don’t come naturally.”

“We’re more connected than ever to the stress of the world and we, here, are one of the only industries designed to counterbalance this inhumane stress,” said Dalton.

“We must weave intentional rest in all our journeys and remember our teams deserve to rest, too.”

Patrick agreed, adding: “Stress has changed in this generation – it needs a rebrand. It’s not fight or flight anymore, it’s death by 1,000 cuts.

“The antidote needs to be active not passive, we can help by offering ways to induce physiological calm.

“It’s no surprise cold and breathwork and meditation are soaring in popularity. Far form a luxury, they’re becoming a necessity.”
