Prof Konstantin Ovsyannikov will provide insight into the use of hot mineral baths for patients with type II diabetes mellitus.

Other topics on the programme will include emerging trends in the spa industry and balneotherapy for reducing stress, depression, and anxiety.

“Our mission is to align health resorts within the European healthcare market. One of our most important objectives is promoting spa medicine as a curative and preventive approach using natural remedies, rehabilitation techniques and education.”

Host resort Druskininkai is renowned for its mineral waters from the Grožio šaltinis (spring of beauty).

This salt-rich mineral water is extracted from a 300m-deep borehole and is the foundation for many health and beauty treatments across the region.

An eco-friendly resort town, Druskininkai is a showcase of environmental conservation and nurturing.

“This event is a testament to our dedication to promoting wellbeing and nature conservation, while showcasing the unique offers of European spas destinations,” said Šarūnas Vaitkus, president of the Lithuanian Resorts Association.
