The Spa at South Lodge launches vinotherapy concept with Pelegrims

The Spa at South Lodge has partnered with Pelegrims, a local skincare company, to bring a British vinotherapy skincare concept, with treatments, to the spa menu.

South Lodge has planted a series of vineyards and Pelegrims has taken an extract from the vines and produced products for the treatment room and a series of amenities that clients can purchase.

South Lodge’s vineyard was planted in May 2022 in partnership with local wine maker, Ridgeview Wine Estate.

Expect to see a sparkling wine produced by the award-winning English wine company from these vines in the next few years.

Ian Mackie, spa manager at South Lodge explains: “From the early stages of the vineyard project at South Lodge, it was always part of the plan to develop a story and guest experience around the vineyard offering, having spent time researching skincare developed from the production by-products.”

The partnership with Pelegrims marks a major milestone for South Lodge by bringing natural elements to the forefront of its treatments and product range.

Formulations are made using raw materials of the wine-making process, such as grape skins, seeds, stems from Ortega and Pinot Noir grape vines.

These would otherwise go to waste, and work to enrich the skin and boost antioxidant properties with anti-ageing benefits and improved skin tone.

“We worked closely with the founders of Pelegrims, listening to each other,” says Mackie. “Understanding the needs and expectations of both businesses, and exploring ideas to develop an efficacious skincare range with only the highest results and values in efficacy.”

British vinotherapy

The South Lodge X Pelegrims product range forms the basis of a new signature treatment at The Spa: the Grapevine Face and Back Glow.

European Spa absolutely loved this treatment, which begins with a back scrub cleanse, detox and mud mask to hydrate. It continues with a luxury facial to refresh and rejuvenate the skin.

The treatment also features neck and should massage and a relaxing scalp massage to relieve stress and release tension

Guests can also book the Di-Vine Spa Day, including the Grapevine Face and Back Glow signature treatment, and a glass of Ridgeview English wine. This can be enjoyed at South Lodge spa’s restaurant Botanica, with a menu curated by head chef Jonathan Spiers.

Natural products

The spa will also stock South Lodge X Pelegrims shampoo, conditioner and body wash range in its guest showers and are developing a natural pure grape seed oil to be used in treatments.

Ingredients include mint and AHA fruit acids for skin exfoliation; English nettle root powder, known for its anti-inflammatory properties; and South Lodge grape leaf extract. This has been infused with jasmine, lavender and grass fragrant notes for a calming experience. Guests will have the option to purchase the exclusive line of products to continue their spa experience at home.
