The Montenotte’s Bellevue Spa launches The Salt Room

The Montenotte, one of Ireland’s leading hotels, has introduced a salt room in its Bellevue Spa. This new addition at the Cork-based spa is part of an on-going project to revitalise its offering following a recent partnership with Grown Alchemist.

The Salt Room at Bellevue Spa has been designed as a sanctuary to offer healing and rejuvenation. Sylvia Darragh, managing director of Natural Salt Therapy, consulted on the project and trained the team.

Beneficial effects of salt therapy

Drawing on the therapeutic and healing properties of salt, this new space diffuses small salt particles into the air. It creates a microclimate reminiscent of natural salt caves.

The walls, crafted from over 1,400 Himalayan salt bricks directly from Pakistan, radiate a warm, rosy glow that bathes the room in a soft, nurturing light.

From the moment guests enter the room, the salt will begin to absorb excess moisture in the lungs, effectively purifying airways, removing allergens. This facilitates full, unrestricted breathing while elevating oxygen intake.

Salt therapy has been scientifically proven to aid those suffering from asthma and allergies, and is said to boost the immune system. In addition to its respiratory benefits, salt therapy is often cited for its beneficial effects on the skin.

The Salt Room at the Montenotte

Guests at the Montenotte are invited to recline on a plush chaise lounge within the Salt Room and allow their bodies to absorb the natural minerals. The room benefits from a soothing music soundtrack to promote total relaxation, rest and rejuvenation.

“The enthusiasm and commitment of the team to deliver a space and a treatment that would massively improve guests’ wellness experience was inspiring,” says Sylvia Darragh, managing director of Natural Salt Therapy.

Salt therapy in action

The Salt Room is available complimentary to all guests visiting Bellevue Spa as a 40-minute wellness experience, following their spa treatment.

Salt Therapy at The Salt Room is available as a stand-alone wellness treatment, Monday – Friday from 9am for 40 minutes priced at €45 per person.
