The Langham Hospitality Group (LHG) has launched a new comprehensive sleep wellness programme.

Designed to promote healthy sleep, Sleep Matters by Chuan is the result of a partnership between LHG’s spa and wellbeing brand Chuan Spa and the World Sleep Society (WSS).

The programme has been rolled out at LHG properties worldwide and offers a range of experiences and rituals designed to enhance guests’ sleep.

The programme was developed in partnership with the World Sleep Society

Offerings include The Sleep Matters Turndown Kit, which includes herbal teas, a cushioned sleep mask, branded earplugs and a Sleep Tips Card from the WSS.

Also available is the Sleep Matters Menu, which guests can use to order a selection of wellness-enhancing items – such as yoga mats and fitness balls for pre-sleep stretches, weighted blankets, white-noise machines and several pillow options – to aid sleep. Select locations are also offering Chuan elemental oils and lavender bath products for a restful pre-bed soak.

Guests also have access to a specially curated Spotify playlist to help them relax before bed, while a Sleep Matters brochure and a special edition of the WSS Healthier Sleep magazine are available in every guest room via a QR code. Specially created for LHG, the magazine focuses on travel and includes tips for developing habits for healthy sleep and improving children’s sleep, as well as information on jetlag recovery, circadian rhythms, mindfulness and other useful sleep wellness topics.

The programme also includes an Instagram Live series with experts from the WSS sharing tips and tricks on how to achieve better sleep on the platform.

Several LHG properties will offer unique experiences to enhance their sleep programmes

Additionally, several LHG properties will enhance their Sleep Matters offerings with unique experiences. For instance, The Langham, London has partnered with Hasten, a luxury all-natural mattress brand from Sweden, to offer a tailor-made bed in its luxurious Portland Suite.

Also at The Langham, London, available in the Sterling Suite, the Mirror Screen by ZENi is a virtual personal trainer offering 10,000 on-demand workout classes, essentially bringing a personal trainer into the room. With studies showing that a light workout like yoga can improve sleep quality, a workout with the Mirror Screen will leave guests feeling relaxed and ready for bed.

The Langham, London is also piloting sleep consultations with Sleep Clinic, a trusted Harley Street practice,, while The Langham, Melbourne has partnered with a Traditional Chinese Medicine consultant to enhance its Sleep Matters by Chuan offering.

Finally, LHG properties in London, Los Angeles and Chicago are offering unique CBD experiences, while those in the US are offering SOM, an all-natural, drug-free sleep aid drink. All Chuan Spa locations are offering Ear Auricular Therapy for Sleep experiences, while select properties are offering an in-room bath menu.

Some properties will offer in-room bath menus to aid relaxation and support sleep

There are also plans to further develop the programme with a collaboration with StimScience, a startup on a mission to improve sleep quality for everyone using personalised neuroscience. Its first product, Somnee, was developed by a team of neuroscientists and inventors and is the only electronic headband to mimic and enhance the brain’s natural sleep patterns, safely and effectively improving sleep.

“In today’s demanding world, regular healthy sleep is a critical foundation to a healthier future. This new global partnership with Langham Hospitality Group aligns with our aim to draw attention to the importance of good sleep for achieving a healthier everyday quality of life,” said Allan O’Bryan, executive director of the World Sleep Society.

Bob van den Oord, LHG regional vice president, operations, for North America, Europe and the Middle East, said: “Sleep is one of the essential connections between our hotels and our guests.”

“Sleep Matters by Chuan is deliberately designed to enhance the wellness of our guests with new rituals and habits that they can take home and use long after they have stayed with us.”

“There is a direct link to guest sleep quality and their happiness with their hotel. Sleep Matters by Chuan is deliberately designed to enhance the wellness of our guests with new rituals and habits that they can take home and use long after they have stayed with us.

“Each of our hotels across the world has embraced Sleep Matters by Chuan and introducing their own packages and local elements to delight our guests. We’ll be able to introduce our guests to the knowledge of our Chuan Spa wellness concepts in collaboration with the World Sleep Society in one holistic programme, to help them achieve better rest while they are staying with us,” van den Oord added.

Be well...
