The co-chairs of the 2021 Global Wellness Summit (GWS) have been announced as Michael Roizen, MD, the first chief wellness officer of the Cleveland Clinic, and Victor Koo, a wellness-focused entrepreneur and investor from Hong Kong.

Focusing on a theme of ‘A New New Era in Health and Wellness’, this year’s conference will take place in Boston, US, from November 30 to December 3.

Roizen, who is also the author and co-author of numerous books focused on health and longevity, including What to Eat When and the New York Times best-seller RealAge: Are You as Young As You Can Be?, is said to embody this year’s event theme, which aims to marry healthcare with wellness.

“I’ve long-touted the importance of combining common sense and evidence-based wellness with standard healthcare practices to prevent illness."

A successful entrepreneur who sold his China-based start-up to Alibaba Entertainment, Victor Koo is committed to sharing the benefits of wellness by investing in and supporting innovation that promotes health and sustainability.

Koo is chairman of Heyi Holdings and the co-founder and CEO of Tianren Culture, the Global Wellness Institute’s Wellness Moonshot partner in China.

“The importance of health and wellness has taken center stage in all of our lives and there is recognition that prevention is far better than cure. I look forward to bringing the GWS’s message to more wellness seekers around the globe.”

With shifting travel restrictions around the world, this year’s event is said to be a ‘hybrid’, with in-person participation available alongside a comprehensive virtual package that will provide access to all the main-stage keynotes and panel discussions. These will be available on-demand in every time zone across the three days.

The event was previously scheduled to take place in Tel Aviv in mid-November but the organisers made the decision to switch locations after consulting with the GWS board of advisors, key industry leaders and the Summit’s close partners in Israel.

Tel Aviv will now host the Summit in Autumn 2022.
