Grand Hotel Tremezzo, a boutique hotel and spa on the southern banks of Lake Como, Italy, has launched a new ‘tree-hugging’ retreat to encourage healing through nature.

Available exclusively to guests staying in the hotel’s Villa Sola Cabiati, a baroque palace that previously housed the Dukes of Serbelloni, the experience takes place inside the villa gardens and encourages guests to establish a physical connection with nature.

The three-hour experience is underpinned by a 45-minute session of silvotherapy, the act of healing by engaging with nature through touch, typically involving leaning on, stroking and touching trees.

A physical connection with nature is said to have emotional and physical benefits

A therapist guides participants through a series of breathing and visualisation exercises to encourage them to release emotional and physical tension as they remain in direct contact with the trees.

The session is concluded with a two-hour mindfulness ritual and a healthy breakfast.

Developed by the hotel’s spa team, the experience encourages guests to reap the physical and emotional benefits of being in nature by forging a physical connection through touch.

Be one with nature...
