Fonab Castle appoints new manager at Woodland Spa

Nichola Hope is promoted from her previous role as assistant spa manager

Nichola Hope has become spa manager at Woodland Spa at Fonab Castle, the five-star hotel and spa, managed by Crerar Hotels, in the heart of Perthshire at the gateway to the Scottish Highlands.

Hope began her career in wellness 17 years ago with a beauty course, before studying beauty therapy at college. She then worked at Gleneagles for seven years, training in brands including ESPA, Oskia, Tata Harper and Dr Barbara Strum.

She joined Fonab Castle in November 2023 as assistant spa manager, and has now been promoted to the spa manager role.

Hope’s vision for Woodland Spa is to capture the outside and bring it in, while educating guests to optimise their health and wellbeing.

Speaking exclusively to European Spa, she said: “My role is multifaceted, and I thrive on overseeing daily operations while supporting my team to surpass guest’s expectations.

“I am looking to refine and enhance the current Woodland Spa offering. I will be establishing links with local health and wellbeing specialists and utilising their skillset to offer new experiences to guests.”

New general manager for Fonab Castle

Fonab Castle has also recently welcomed Scottish hotelier Peter Walker as its new general manager. He brings 25 years’ experience in the industry, having worked for properties including Maryculter House in Aberdeen and Ardoe House.

Discussing her ambitions for the spa, Hope said: “I intend to develop the wellness offering by introducing new spa equipment and wellness innovations based on water, sound and heat.”

She added that she would be drawing inspiration from the landscape and local environment. “With its unique outlook on Loch Faskally and Ben Vrackie, I would like to position the spa as one of the UK’s top luxury wellbeing destination spas,” Hope said.
