A new five-star hotel and spa built inside a 15th-century monastery and chapel will open in Antwerp, Belgium, in December.

Botanic Sanctuary Antwerp, an urban retreat located next to the city’s botanic garden, will house 108 guest rooms and the 1,000sqm Botanic Health Spa.

Designed to relay a sense of monastic devotion to the healing power of botanicals, the spa aims to support holistic health by offering naturopathy, herbalism, phytotherapy and alternative medicine.

Spread over three floors, the spa will feature 10 treatment rooms as well as relaxation spaces, a swimming pool, infrared loungers, a Jacuzzi, waterbeds, vitamin and herbal bars and the Spa Bistro.

A panoramic Finnish sauna, an ice fountain, a textile sauna, a historically inspired sauna, a salt and mineral sauna and a thermal zone with a Kneipp walk will complete the thermal offering.

The spa’s treatment menu will offer a host of plant-based treatments, including massages, body rituals and anti-ageing facials, powered by products from luxury Franco-Japanese skincare brand EviDenS de Beauté and Swiss spa and skincare brand Methode Physiodermie.
